There have always been turbulent times for some people, somewhere in this world, and for some far more than others. However, in this time period it seems that almost everyone, everywhere, is subject to difficult conditions in one way or another. In the face of this turbulence, the teachings of the Buddha and the meditative practices that the Buddha taught can serve us, the people in our lives, and the world itself, well.
Relying upon The Four Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path can both smooth and calm our minds and awaken the heart. Learning how to use the mind -- instead of being relentlessly used and led around by our ruminative and worry-laden thinking -- can bring our lives into balance. The Buddha said that an untrained mind is the one thing that bring great woe, whereas the well-trained mind brings great bliss. Let’s learn how to train our minds and live joyfully in the midst of our problems and cares.
This retreat is appropriate for beginners as well as experienced meditators. Our time together will include guided mediation periods, talks and time for discussion and questions. There will also be optional breakout rooms to foster peer support. Undertaking an online retreat in our home environment encourages us to integrate these teachings into our lives more directly, even as we cultivate a sense of connection with others through our shared experiences.
Everyone is welcome. Full and partial scholarships are available.
