Perhaps you have heard about the great promise of meditation and mindfulness and how beneficial they can be for many people. The practices are simple yet on your own, meditating and building a habit over time can be challenging or even intimidating. We often hear from people who have tried a meditation class or used a meditation app that they find it hard to stick with it or even to know if they are on the right track.
Meditation 101 is a three-week program specifically designed with the first-time meditator in mind. The intention of this course is to help beginners learn the basics of how, where, and when to meditate. We will systematically and gradually break down the practice into digestible parts, and deliberately slow things down, so you can learn to meditate in a comfortable and accessible group setting with others who are also starting out.
We invite you to bring a healthy dose of curiosity and a willingness to learn by doing. Helpful pointers on posture, duration, breath meditation, and daily life practice will be offered. You will be given tools and encouragement to lay the foundation for consistent, ongoing home practice. There will be ample opportunity for questions and discussion. Together, we will learn how to meditate. Everyone is welcome.
This program will not be recorded. Full and partial scholarships are available up to 72 hours before the start of the program.
