Gullu will explore the Attadanda Sutta (Arming Oneself) in which the Buddha talks about the “dreadful fear” he experienced due to all the fighting and conflict around him and this “trembling world” which lacks essence. He talks about how he longed to find a place unscathed but he could not find one. Words spoken 2,500 years ago that have remarkable resonance to today. And then Buddha shared what he discovered – the causes of suffering and the path to freedom from suffering.

Gulwinder “Gullu” Singh is a corporate real estate attorney who regularly teaches both secular and Buddhist classes and groups at InsightLA, has taught mindfulness at the University of Southern California and has been a guest lecturer on mindfulness at UCLA Law School. Gullu completed InsightLA’s one-year Mindfulness Facilitator Training Group, Spirit Rock’s Dedicated Practitioner Program, Spirit Rock’s 2016-2020 Teacher Training program, and is authorized to teach Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction by the Center for Mindfulness at U Mass Medical School. Gullu is deeply inspired to share meditation as an antidote to stress, a way to cope more effectively with the challenges of work and life and to inject more sanity, compassion and wisdom into this world.

No registration is necessary. You are welcome to attend just the sit, just the talk, or both. Please note that the doors to the meditation hall will be closed at 6:35 pm for the Evening Sit and at 7:35 pm for the Dharma talk.
