How are we to live? These profound teachings of the Buddha -- the Four Noble Truths -- provide us with all that is necessary for understanding Dharma and awakening. These timeless truths reveal a straight-forward way to take care of suffering as the path to true happiness and liberation from inner bondage. They provide us with a practical guide to living well.
What are the Four Noble Truths?
- There is suffering.
- There is a cause of suffering.
- There is an end of suffering.
- There is a clear path out of suffering: The Eightfold Noble Path.
There is the conceptual understanding of these truths, which we will systematically explore. Then there is putting them into practice and experiencing the results. The emphasis of our work together will be to bring these teachings to life through the practice of vipassana meditation, the clear, direct seeing of what is. This approach -- returning again and again to these four essential truths -- can be of immense benefit.
We will begin each class with silent meditation practice, followed by a short walking meditation and Dharma reflections. There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion. The program is open to anyone who has at least two years of meditation practice.
Full and partial scholarships are available up to 72 hours before the start of the program.
This class will not meet on Monday, May 27.
