The Seven Factors of Awakening, the bojjhangas, are seven beautiful qualities that are present in an awakened heart and mind. They are: mindfulness, investigation, energy, joy, tranquility, concentration and equanimity. Cultivating and understanding them can deepen our practice and our commitment to awakening.
The Seven Factors of Awakening are so valued as part of Buddhist practice that they are known as “inner wealth”; they both lead to Awakening and also describe Awakening. Each can be developed in our sitting and in daily life. In this Practice Group, we will learn how to recognize, strengthen and balance each of the seven factors.
This program is appropriate for both new and experienced meditators of all ages and all levels of experience. Each session will include meditation practice, teachings and time for discussion and questions. Mindful homework between sessions is essential to this group. Everyone is welcome.
