Equanimity is the cultivation of a balanced heart in the midst of change. The Buddha described the ways we are pushed around by the conditions in life as the teaching of the Eight Worldly Winds. These “winds” include praise and blame, gain and loss, pleasure and pain, and fame and disrepute. Equanimity makes it possible to respond to our ever-changing experiences with less reactivity and with greater wisdom and compassion.
Together, we will focus on various ways to cultivate equanimity in our lives. Our time together will include guided mediation periods, talks and time for discussion and questions. There will also be optional breakout rooms to foster peer support. Undertaking an online retreat in our home environment encourages us to integrate these teachings into our lives more directly, even as we cultivate a sense of connection with others through our shared experiences.
This program is appropriate for both new and experienced meditators. Everyone is welcome. Full and partial scholarships are available.
