Raise the Roof. Keep it Cool.
CIMC is a sanctuary for many of us. We are stewards of the beautiful 1890 Victorian building that houses us, committed to its upkeep and preservation. Currently, we have two big projects before us.
The first project, replacing our roof, is urgent. You’ll see in photos below that it suffered tremendously this past winter, and we’ve learned that the shingles used during our 1999 renovation were defective. The company that manufactured them is no longer in business, so we’ll need to fund this project ourselves. We plan to replace the roof in August when the Center is closed for summer break.
The second project is replacing the cooling system in our upper meditation hall. It’s crucial to the well-being of people practicing here on hot, humid New England summer days. Unfortunately, it is nearing the end of its expected lifespan and shows signs of failing. We’re currently researching air-conditioning solutions and plan to install a quieter, more comfortable and more efficient system as soon as possible.
Our goal is to raise a total of $50,000 by July 31. Please make a generous contribution to CIMC’s Building Fund today.
