CIMC’s decision about Covid-19 protocols for reopening are informed by input from teachers, staff and medical professionals, health agencies and consultations with other Dharma Centers. They are rooted in our “Guiding Principles for Reopening” which we shared last year.
COVID VACCINATION
CIMC requires that all staff, teachers, program participants and members be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 at least two weeks before coming to the Center. CIMC’s vaccination requirement aligns with our intention that our Center be a refuge, a place of safety where we care for one another in support of our collective well-being. It is in keeping with foundational principles of the Dharma, which include a commitment to non-harm and the recognition of our interdependence.
We recognize and understand that members of our community hold different perspectives on what should be undertaken in these imperfect times. For those who are not vaccinated or who are unable to come to the Center for other reasons, CIMC will continue to offer myriad online programs designed to support Dharma practice and spiritual connection.
At this time, CIMC continues to require that masks be worn while in the building, and our kitchen and tea closet are closed. We encourage you to enjoy our beautiful garden if you would like to have something to eat or drink while at the Center.
We will revisit our coronavirus vaccination policy as conditions change and look forward to the day when COVID concerns are truly a thing of the past. May everyone find a Dharma home at CIMC.
- CIMC Members who are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 are welcome to come to the Center for individual practice each day from 7:00am-9:00pm, except when a program is in session in the building. Please click here for more information.
- A selection of in-person programs, including retreats, will be offered beginning in April 2022. Please check our website for details.
- Starting in April, our Beginners Drop-in program will meet in person at CIMC on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month from 6:00-7:00pm. Beginners Drop-in will be offered online on all other Tuesdays.
- Our Wednesday Evening Dharma program will be offered in person at CIMC some weeks and online other weeks depending on the location of the teachers we have scheduled.
- Our Practice Groups (weekly classes), Affinity Group Sanghas and Dharma in Daily Life will remain online for now.
As we begin this phase of alternating drop-ins between online and in person, we strongly recommend that you check our online calendar each time to plan your participation.
- For drop-in programs such as our Tuesday Beginners Drop-in or Wednesday Evening Dharma, proof of vaccination must be presented at the door.
- For our registration programs, participants will be prompted to pre-register their vaccination records using CrowdPass within 24 hours of registering for a program.
ONLINE PROGRAMS
CIMC is committed to ensuring that our offerings of the Dharma are accessible to all. To support our diverse community as equitably as possible, we will continue to provide a robust schedule of online programs by offering online practice groups, retreats, Dharma talks and drop-in programs for practitioners of all levels. Our Reopening Committee is also researching dual-mode (“hybrid”) methods, talking with other Dharma Centers about their plans, and looking into what equipment we can put in place to facilitate these programs in the future.
